METAIRIE Limited Rickey Jackson Jersey , La. (AP) — Saints third-string quarterback Taysom Hill never envisioned launching his body across the path of a punted ball when he arrived in New Orleans last season to serve as an understudy to record-setting passer Drew Brees.Yet his momentum-changing blocked punt in last week’s comeback victory at Tampa Bay became just his latest highlight that has nothing to do with dropping back from the line of scrimmage and throwing a football. It has become increasingly apparent this season that the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Hill has the potential to become the NFL’s ultimate utility player. And if doing so improves the Saints’ Super Bowl odds, Hill’s game.“Standing on the sideline with a hat on and a clip board and a sweat shirt is not as fun as doing what I’m doing,” Hill said. The 28-year-old Hill’s embrace of his unconventional role comes with risk, particularly in light of his background. He had major injuries in four of his five seasons at BYU: a knee injury, a bone fracture in his leg, a foot fracture and a hyper-extended elbow. But at this point, Hill doesn’t see himself playing special teams throughout his career.“I thought that I would come in and develop as a quarterback and have the opportunity to compete to play at quarterback,” Hill said. “That’s what I’m still hopeful for.”In the meantime, Hill has made a value judgment. He loves playing, so he’s willing to make his skill set available in ways he might not have previously considered.“I’m grateful that the coaches here had a vision for me and then created opportunities,” Hill said. “That’s unique and I’m grateful for the coaching staff here that had a vision, but then they took a chance, right? Because if things don’t go well, they look silly.”Instead, Hill has already made enough plays on special teams that Saints coach Sean Payton figures Hill, if he wanted to, could make a sustained NFL career out of doing just that, much like Steve Tasker did with Buffalo or Fred McAfee did in New Orleans.“Yet, the difference is, I think he can be a quarterback. I think that’s the plan,” Payton said. “The plus is he has that athleticism Willie Roaf Jersey Salute to Service , size, and speed. He can do a lot of things.“He has very good savvy,” Payton continued. “He’s catching. He’s rushing. He’s tackling. He’s running. He’s throwing. I mean, he’s just a good football player.”Hill has five special teams tackles this season. He’s returned a kickoff for 47 yards and helped convert two fake punts into first downs as an upback, one running and one throwing. He has even lined up at tight end.At times, Payton inserts Hill at quarterback in place of Brees for read-option runs, one of which went for a 1-yard touchdown. Hill also completed a 44-yard pass to Michael Thomas at Minnesota.Hill said that if he does get his shot to play quarterback more regularly, he wants to be more of a traditional passer, albeit one who can run when prudent.“I’d much rather throw for a touchdown than run for one,” Hill said. “But I think there are elements of my game that make it difficult on a defense and I think it would be dumb not to take advantage of that.”In high school in Idaho, Hill was a standout football player and basketball player. On the court, his size, strength and jumping ability — he can dunk — led coaches to play him at power forward. He was a strong rebounder, and with his background as a quarterback, had little trouble passing out of double-teams.He had small college basketball offers but initially committed to play football at Stanford before deciding that BYU would suit him better after he completed a Mormon mission. He began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with Green Bay last season. When he was waived at the end of training camp, Payton signed Hill to New Orleans’ active roster. Late last season, the Saints dabbled with putting Hill on special teams to make use of his athleticism, and he quickly started being the first down the field and making tackles.“He’s so good at it you’re not going to have him just sitting there holding the clipboard,” Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi said. “He’s got to go play.”Running back Alvin Kamara said Hill has earned respect across the Saints’ locker room.“He does it all. He’s a tough player,” Kamara said. “A lot of things he does, that’s not things that one person does. You usually get a couple of people to do all the things he does.”In New Orleans, Hill has captured the imagination of many fans. The Superdome crowd rumbles with anticipation when he takes the field.“Obviously Drew Brees Jersey , I’m blessed athletically to create opportunities like this, but I think the moral of my story that can relate to anyone is you can overcome a lot in life if you’re willing to spend the time, energy and effort,” Hill began. And then there’s the part about being adventurous enough to seize unanticipated opportunities.“That comes from doing something you really love, right? And I love football,” Hill said. “I love competing and that’s why it was an easy answer for me when they asked me to do different things. So if you’re doing something you love, you might experience setbacks, but overall you’re going to be willing to work at whatever it is or adjust on the fly to whatever situation comes up.” Saints quarterback Drew Brees has the opportunity to do something extraordinary on Sunday: Earn a victory over his 32nd NFL team.If the Saints beat the Ravens on Sunday, Brees will have been the starting quarterback when his team earned a victory over every NFL team. Only Brett Favre and Peyton Manning have accomplished that feat before.Of course, it’s impossible to earn a win over all 32 teams if you haven’t played for multiple teams. Brees beat the Saints when he played for the Chargers and the Chargers when he played for the Saints. According to Pro Football Reference, three active quarterbacks have beaten every team except the team they play for: Tom Brady has beaten every team but the Patriots, Aaron Rodgers has beaten every team but the Packers and Ben Roethlisberger has beaten every team but the Steelers. The only other quarterback who has wins over 31 teams is a surprising one: Kerry Collins, who started in a win over every team except the Dolphins in his 17-year career with the Giants, Titans, Panthers, Raiders, Colts and Saints.Using “wins” as a measurement of a quarterback is flawed, as winning or losing is often determined by elements outside a quarterback’s control. That’s why Kerry Collins can be on a wins list with a bunch of future Hall of Famers. But lasting long enough as a starting quarterback to earn wins over the entire league is still a noteworthy achievement, one that Brees can accomplish on Sunday. Custom Arizona Cardinals Jerseys

Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse — a survey of fans across the NFL John Franklin-Myers Jersey , powered by SurveyMonkey. Each week, we send 32 polls to plugged in fans from each team. eWeek 2 FanPulseWeek 3 FanPulse - confidenceWeek 3 FanPulse - game predictionWeek 4 FanPulseWeek 5 FanPulseWeek 6 FanPulseWelp. The fans have spoken. The FanPulse votes are in for Week 7, and our national fan voting base has confirmed that they prefer Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes over Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz, Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff and Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson in that order. What’s interesting is how each fan base voted. Here at TST Authentic Joseph Noteboom Jersey , our FanPulse respondents went 74% for Goff and just 21% for Mahomes. Compare that to Chiefs fans at Arrowhead Pride who went 99% for Mahomes and left their remaining 1% for the Rams’ system QB or Eagles fans from Bleeding Green Nation: 94% Wentz, 4% Mahomes.Every fan base that didn’t have a QB in the poll went for Mahomes. So outside of TST, no fan base went for Goff with a majority of their votes.Suffice to say, the larger NFL is down with Showtime. The Rams are another consensus pick on the odds and from FanPulse respondents this week:Odds: Rams 10/10.5 point favorites over Denver BroncosTurf Show Times FanPulse: Rams by 13Niners Nation FanPulse: Rams by 11Not surprising at all given the fan confidence from our vantage points:49ers fans are feeling somewhat better about their team after losing a close one to the Green Bay Packer by a field goal, but at 1-5 that confidence is hanging by a thread. And while an expected result on Sunday might not send confidence plummeting Limited Brian Allen Jersey , the Niners head on the road to take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. The Cardinals are bringing a blitz just outside of the redzone on third down. Though it looks like QB Jared Goff is going to eat the sack John Kelly Jersey Salute to Service , he somehow manages to break free and keep his eyes downfield. The only problem was he forced a pass to Brandin Cooks that CB Patrick Peterson intercepted. Goff needs to just huck this one into the third row of the stadium.Highlight(Google AMP and Apple News readers will need to click here to see the clip)Your browser does not support HTML5 video. You knew this was coming didn’t you?The Cardinals made it a point of emphasis to sell out and stop the run against the Rams - a very sound tactic as RB Todd Gurley can take over a game in a hurry. The issue then becomes accounting for the dangerous receiving weapons the Rams employ. Here, the Rams fake an outside zone run to the right, WR Brandin Cooks does a good job getting behind both the corner and safety on a corner-post, and QB Jared Goff lays it on him for a massive gain. The offensive line held up for majority of that pass though at the end a defender gets close-er to Goff making him take a step to maneuver the pocket and re-set his feet, with that likely being the reason Goff couldn’t throw it out further for a massive touchdown.

Buffalo Bills release WR Jeremy Kerley http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/jordan-mills-jersey , sign DT Robert Thomas On Saturday afternoon, the day before hosting the Los Angeles Chargers in their home opener, the Buffalo Bills announced that they have released wide receiver Jeremy Kerley, and signed defensive tackle Robert Thomas from their practice squad to the active roster. This move comes out of left field, since Kerley (who caught two of four targets for seven yards in the season opener) wasn’t reported to be disappointing the coaching staff early in the season. This move is a strong indication that the Bills are preparing to establish a role for rookies Robert Foster and Ray-Ray McCloud. McCloud, who is recovering from a minor knee injury, now can claim slot duties and become the primary punt returner, while Foster has one fewer veteran in the way of his reps. This might be a sign that McCloud is ready for action sooner than we thought.Kerley’s entire $960,000 salary was guaranteed when he broke the season on the active roster, so the Bills are on the hook for the 29-year-old’s cash.Thomas had a strong preseason with the New York Giants, notching two sacks, and that helped him find a spot on Buffalo’s practice squad until now. He was a reserve in 15 games with the Giants last year. With the release of Adolphus Washington, the Bills only had three defensive tackles on the roster, and Thomas will bolster that depth. The team loves to rotate defensive linemen, and with Shaq Lawson out this week, they needed an extra body to keep players fresh.Buffalo Bills fantasy football preview, Week 4: LeSean McCoy is back The Buffalo Bills were left for dead after two weeks, having been outscored 78-23 in losses to the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers. Then Authentic Tremaine Edmunds Jersey , they traveled west and destroyed the Minnesota Vikings, winning 27-6 in a tremendously important road game. With such wild inconsistency, predicting which Bills are fantasy football-worthy is incredibly difficult. Last week, we projected solid days for quarterback Josh Allen and running back Chris Ivory, which turned out to be right. In the weeks before, however, we were hoping for strong days from the likes of wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (nope) and running back LeSean McCoy (still nope), but we were ultimately let down. With the Bills traveling to the not-yet frozen tundra of Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers this week, Bills fans are feeling far more optimistic than they were a week ago. Which players are worth starting in fantasy football this week? I suppose that depends on just how confident you are.QB Josh AllenAfter watching last weekend’s masterful performance from the rookie, I’m all-in. Allen scored 27.74 points last week, good for fifth among quarterbacks in the week. Yahoo! has Allen projected to score 15.19 points this week, placing him at QB27. He’s only projected to outscore fellow rookies Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold, as well as San Francisco 49ers starter C.J. Beathard. Allen has surpassed his projection in each of his two pro starts, and while he might not have the same kind of production running the football that he did last week (10 carries, 39 yards, 2 touchdowns), the potential for extra points via the run makes him a good bet to surpass his projection yet again. If he can combine another solid rushing game with some hits in the deep game (as opposed to the near-misses he’s seen on long passes in the last two games), Allen will provide surplus value for those who have him on their fantasy roster.RB LeSean McCoyMcCoy is off to an incredibly slow start Authentic Kelvin Benjamin Jersey , though some of that has to do with the rib-cartilage injury he suffered during Buffalo’s loss to the Chargers. After rushing for 110 yards in the 2017 season opener, McCoy endured a similar swoon, rushing 67 times for 169 yards over Buffalo’s next four games. Once the offensive line found its footing, however, McCoy was able to rally and finish the year with 1,138 yards on the ground. He has to start turning his year around somewhere, and against a Green Bay defense that allows 124.3 yards per game on the ground and 4.7 yards per attempt, it’s the perfect time to do it. While he may not play as many snaps as he would if were completely healthy, expect McCoy to be effective on Sunday.Bills D/STThis is a weird hunch, but I think Buffalo is going to be able to stop the Packers from running the ball, and I also think that they’ll be able to pressure superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is nursing a knee injury. As a result, the Bills could end up with a few sacks on the afternoon. If Tre’Davious White is able to smother the Packers’ top wideout, Davante Adams, then the stop unit could be in for another solid day.

On Saturday Mason Crosby Jersey , the Green Bay Packers have officially placed defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson on IR, ending his season. In a corresponding move, the vacated roster spot will be filled by cornerback Tony Brown, who was elevated from the practice squad today. Brown, an undrafted rookie, spent the summer with the Los Angeles Chargers before being waived and signed to the Packers practice squad earlier this month. The 6-foot, 198-pound defensive back is an elite athlete, as evidenced by his collegiate track and field success. Coming out of Alabama, Brown projected as a nickel or hybrid corner who could be utilized in run support, with the added bonus of special teams experience. He’s a willing tackler with 4.35 speed, making him an intriguing prospect for defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. Filling Brown’s spot on the practice squad will be defensive lineman Deon Simon, a journeyman nose tackle who has spent time with the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans. The NFL trade deadline is just two days away http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-muhammad-wilkerson-jersey , and while most teams used to shy away from in-season deals, the last few years have actually been quite active. It’s possible the Packers will get in on the action as, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the team could be shopping starting free safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.There are a lot of reasons this would make sense, as Clinton-Dix is in a contract year and they may seek to get value for him rather than re-sign him, or potentially lose him on the free agent market.Clinton-Dix is a controversial player, and that makes him a potentially lucrative trade chip. The scouting website Pro Football Focus thinks the world of him, and has him graded as the second best safety in the league so far. It’s entirely possible that a few teams agree with this assessment, and it’s possible they would pay a pretty penny for his services. That said, there are many analysts, myself included, who believe he is one of the league’s most overrated players http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-antonio-morrison-jersey , fattening up on tipped, or severely overthrown interceptions, but in reality playing an extremely tentative game that leaves the Packers’ defense playing 10-on-11. The biggest issue with a potential trade is simply that the Packers have no depth at safety. Jermaine Whitehead and Raven Greene are unproven, and the Packer strong safeties lack the flexibility to move to free safety in a pinch. Some have suggested Tramon Williams can join the safety brigade with Breshaud Breeland now healthy, but this idea is pretty speculative. For all of his faults, Clinton-Dix at least knows where to stand. In a vacuum, it would make more sense for the Packers to acquire a safety, not trade one away, but Clinton-Dix is a special case in a contract year. We don’t know how active Gutekunst may be at the deadline, but dealing away HHCD would be a major splash.

Football Outsiders’ 2017 stats suggest QB pressure will be X-factor in Packers-Bears All eyes will be on the debut of Khalil Mack in Chicago this week after the Bears pulled off a blockbuster trade to acquire the sack artist http://www.thepackersfootballauthentic.com/mason-crosby-jersey-authentic , and rightfully so. But Mack makes up just one part of the pressure equation that will loom large over Sunday night’s outcome.Reviewing Football Outsiders’ 2018 almanac, it became apparent that the Chicago Bears’ and Green Bay Packers’ overall performance a season ago hinged significantly on how well their units created and countered pass rush pressure. To better display that notion, here are the numbers broken down by three key position groups.Defensive Front SevenWhile the Bears added Mack to their front seven in the hopes of bolstering their pressure on the edge this season, the Packers left their unit largely the same. On paper, that would seem to benefit the Bears and lead to question marks for the Packers after both squads finished with middle-tier pass rush rankings in 2017.In fact, the two teams’ numbers were eerily similar. Separated by just five recorded sacks, the teams posted adjusted sack rates and pressure rates that mirrored one another. Here is a look at descriptions of these statistics and how the teams fared. Pass Rush Pressure Last SeasonCategoryDescriptionPackers 2017Bears 2017CategoryDescriptionPackers 2017Bears 2017The stats suggest that while both teams struggled to create pressure at times, they were fairly solid at getting home to the quarterback when they did. Akiem Hicks led Chicago with 8.5 sacks, but no other Bear eclipsed 5.5 (Leonard Floyd). Mack’s presence could help the talented, yet inconsistent Floyd become a nuisance himself. Green Bay’s Clay Matthews and Nick Perry led the team with 7.5 and 7.0 sacks, respectively. However, sacks were very hard to come by after Mike Daniels and Kenny Clark’s combined nine. Mike Pettine’s system with the addition of Muhammad Wilkerson should aid the pressure rates that led to tough sledding for the defensive backfield last year.In last season’s November 12th meeting with a starting Trubisky, the Packers were able to sack the Bears’ quarterback five times. Perry notched three alone, helping the team to one of very few wins without Rodgers. It’s not likely that the Packers will record another five sacks this weekend, but even a couple with heightened pressure throughout the game could swing the outcome in favor of Green Bay if the offense holds up its end of the bargain.Offensive LineGreen Bay was impacted significantly from a lack of continuity on the offensive line last season, receiving a “continuity score” from FO close to the NFL’s lowest (Detroit). While injuries may not be as hot and heavy on the line as they were during opening week last year, the Packers still face some uncertainty at right tackle with Bryan Bulaga’s return from injury and at right guard with up-and-down Justin McCray. Chicago’s continuity score was closer to the league average, but the team must replace itsbest lineman, according to FO, in Josh Sitton. Eric Kush and rookie James Daniels are expected to battle for starts in his place at left guard. Otherwise, the Bears’ line is largely the same as a year ago. The continuity factor, as well as quarterback changes, probably played a role in a wide difference in pressure rate on the offensive side of the ball in 2017.Offensive Line Pass Protection Last SeasonCategoryDescriptionPackers 2017Bears 2017CategoryDescriptionPackers 2017Bears 2017Simply put, the expected improvement from the Bears’ defensive front puts pressure, no pun intended, on the Packers’ offensive line to hold up. While Brett Hundley’s indecisiveness did contribute to higher sack totals last season, it was not necessarily always accounted for in the pressure rate above. Defenses were able to get to Green Bay’s passer at a high rate, an issue that must be corrected immediately in week one. For all the Bears’ struggles last season Youth Kevin King Jersey , pass protection was not among the top. The ability to give their quarterback time to throw against the Packers - especially to new weapons like Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller - is imperative as will soon be pointed out.QuarterbacksWhile keeping Aaron Rodgers healthy and upright is always a priority, it’s also a key to sustaining drives. In recent seasons, inconsistency in that regard has been detrimental for Rodgers and the Packers. According to FO, from 2009-2014, the All-Pro quarterback ranked second in the league in yards per pass attempt when facing the blitz and 11th when under pressure. Over the last three seasons, however, Rodgers’ yards per attempt ranking fell to a startling 29th against the blitz and 18th versus pressure. FO notes that Rodgers has faced his three highest pressure rates in the last three years. Although the pressure percentage has diminished just minimally, FO credits that to Rodgers’ ability to escape the rush. How willing Rodgers will be to extending plays after last year’s injury is unclear. But the Bears will be looking to put plenty of hits on the Packers’ quarterback Sunday.Likewise, though his pass attempts and snaps have been limited, Mitch Trubisky has not been as effective in his young career when under pressure. Another offseason of NFL experience should help Trubisky feel more comfortable in the pocket in year two. But there is a clear, proven difference in the effectiveness of Rodgers and Trubisky in the face of a strong pass rush. If the Packers can amp up the pressure and quicken Trubisky’s decision-making Sunday night, it could have a true impact on the game as it did most of last season.Four reasons why the Packers can and can’t win the NFC crown It’s been a seven-and-a-half year wait for the Green Bay Packers to clinch another conference title. The door to a once-imagined dynasty this decade has nearly closed, as the Packers have come up short each year since that glorious January 23, 2011 day at Soldier Field in which Green Bay reached Super Bowl XLV. Of course, it hasn’t been for a lack of drama, as wildly successful subsequent seasons have come to gloomy endings. The Packers have seemingly been a player or two, or a defense away, from getting over the edge in that timeframe. Still, sweeping changes to staff and players this offseason bring hope that this is the year Green Bay puts it all together once again and reaches the promised land. As we get set to embark on a new season with fresh philosophies and playmakers inside 1265 Lombardi Avenue, here are four reasons why the Packers can and can’t win the NFC.Why They Can1. Aaron Rodgers is BackThis might be stating the obvious. The ultimate MVP for his impact on a team’s performance, Rodgers has helped previous Packer rosters make deep postseason runs despite poor defensive play and mounting injuries. His ability to improvise and make plays under pressure has been a lift to the team that was noticeably absent with Brett Hundley under center. The chemistry with Jordy Nelson when plays break down surely will be missed in the beginning of the season, but a rising Davante Adams and steady Randall Cobb return. And he finally has a viable run game to support him. If even one rookie receiver can emerge from the group and show consistent hands and route-running, the Packers’ offense will flourish. Fingers crossed for a healthy season.2. Best Tight End Group in YearsIt’s no secret that Head Coach Mike McCarthy values the tight end position. Unfortunately, that group has not been of value to McCarthy and the Packers since the days of Jermichael Finley. Enter Jimmy Graham, who will directly benefit Rodgers as a tight end most similar to Finley. Graham can line up outside, stretch the inside of the field, and make plays in the red zone with his size and speed. Then there is Marcedes Lewis, a well-rounded veteran who can also help in the red zone while improving the team’s run blocking from the position. The Packers suddenly have two very good tight ends that hurt defenses in different ways. And don’t forget about Lance Kendricks Youth Jaire Alexander Jersey , whose balanced skillset could be overlooked by defenses keying in on Graham and Lewis. The Packers’ stable of wide receivers is a bit unknown, but there is a bit more of a sense of security with the tight ends in Joe Philbin’s return as Offensive Coordinator.3. The New Defensive PersonnelIt’s becoming fairly typical to add high-end cornerback draft picks to the Green Bay defense. But there’s a different vibe about Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson, two athletic ballhawks in college that were well-regarded and have shown elite instincts. It doesn’t stop there. As a unit, the cornerbacks will have a new look with a fully-recovered Kevin King and wily veteran Tramon Williams. For the first time in many seasons, there is really, really good competition in this group. The defensive changes can’t be discussed without Mike Pettine, a proven Defensive Coordinator who should breathe new life into a defense that looked confused, fatigued, and out of position the past two seasons. If Pettine can get a healthy Nick Perry and Clay Matthews to be effective in his scheme, the Packers’ pass rush should be much better. He also gets to develop the young Vince Biegel and Reggie Gilbert his way, while bringing back one of his prized former players in Muhammad Wilkerson to make a great defensive line even better. There’s a level of excitement about this defense that hasn’t been felt in a while, and even a middle-of-the-pack unit gives Green Bay a real shot at contending.4. A Running Game for the Winter MonthsThis was touched on above, but Rodgers will enjoy a slew of talented playmakers in the backfield. The rookie cast was productive last season and their numbers should only climb in 2018.In many of the Rodgers years, the Packers’ offense has been a major strength despite being fairly one-dimensional. For a brief moment last season, specifically in the Dallas game, a Rodgers-led aerial attack paired with a 100-yard rusher was a lethal combination. There is no telling how many more points would have been scored, how much more time of possession would have been owned, or how many games would have been won with this balanced attack all season. Assuming the Packers make the postseason, this balance could pay dividends in the midst of cold weather or windy conditions that make throwing the ball tougher.Although a stronger Aaron Jones will sit the first two games, Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery are capable of picking up the slack and combining for 100-yard rushing performances. All three bring different skillsets to the table, but all can help in the passing game. The defense will love the offense’s ability to chew up the clock and leave them fresher for the fourth quarter. By the time the playoffs roll around, this will be an advantage. Why They Can’t1. Lack of a Pass RushThe numbers were not in favor of the Packers’ pass rushers a year ago. While it’s hard to blame the Packers for not bolstering that area with the lack of impact free agent and draft options available, it’s tough to watch the group stay almost remotely the same and expect a large difference.Every NFC team to reach the Super Bowl since the Packers’ last appearance has had a strong, unyielding pass rush, including the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Outside of Matthews and Perry, there is nothing proven about the Packers’ outside linebacker corps which makes up a great deal of a prominent 3-4 attack. The expected strong push from the defensive line should benefit edge players, but are Biegel, Gilbert Womens Tramon Williams Jersey , Chris Odom, and Kyler Fackrell legitimate, transformational players in Pettine’s system?I will have to see it to believe it. Right now, I’m not buying.2. A Young, Inexperienced SecondaryI know - I gave the cornerbacks a thumbs up just a little bit ago. But that is with the expectation that this group is much-improved and brings heightened third down and turnover numbers this season. Even with that educated guess, the unit is startlingly young with Alexander, Jackson, and King taking on large roles. Expecting a season without a few penalties and coverage breakdowns is unrealistic. Added to that scare is the departure of stable veteran Morgan Burnett and a startling 2017 disappointment from Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at safety. The Packers could have young bodies ready to replace Burnett in Josh Jones and Kentrell Brice. But we don’t know that yet, especially with Jones spending a good chunk of his time with the linebackers last season. The depth behind those two isn’t any more comforting. If the young cornerbacks get beat or make mental errors and the safeties can’t offset those shortcomings, the defense will be in no better position than before. This is especially so when considering teams such as Atlanta that have torched the Packers through the air in recent postseasons. I would have liked to see a one-year free agent deal this offseason with one of the veteran safeties still on the market.3. An Unknown Right Side of the Offensive LineIt may not be a contract year for Jason Spriggs or Kyle Murphy, but it’s shaping up to be a money season regardless. If Bryan Bulaga can’t go the first few games as anticipated, the third-year players will battle for a starting spot with free agent Byron Bell. Right now, there are significant concerns as to how that adjustment will go, especially during the date with Minnesota in week two. And while the Packers get some confidence that Justin McCray can help at guard after a merry-go-round season of injuries on the offensive line last year, was that performance a flash in the pan or an indicator of long-term success? Heading into training camp, we still don’t have a clear-cut idea of who the starters at right guard or right tackle will be in week one. What we’ve learned over the past five years is that the Packers’ season falls on the shoulder of Aaron Rodgers and one hit is enough to end it. Green Bay’s left side of the line figures to hold up its end of deal, but will the right side do its share as well? If not, the issue could lead to a long season of drive-halting sacks and season-ending injuries.4. The Brutal ScheduleRanking each of the top position groups in the NFC North division a few weeks ago proved to be a challenge in its own right, as it will be a competitive division in 2018. The Packers will play an NFC Championship Game caliber Minnesota squad twice in addition to a rising Detroit team. Even Chicago figures to be better than it was a season ago, making the road to the playoffs all that much harder. On top of a rocky schedule within the division, there are plenty who feel the Packers’ schedule is the toughest in the entire league, with a combined opponent winning percentage of .539 during the 2017 season. A brutal road trip to Los Angeles and New England in back-to-back weeks after the bye will be an imposing stretch, while home games against San Francisco and Atlanta present their own challenges.Even if the Packers overcome the gauntlet to make the postseason, the scheduling certainly could impact Green Bay’s seeding. While Green Bay’s last Super Bowl run evolved from a wild card spot, it is not the easiest, most efficient way of winning a conference title.

Buffalo Bills injury update: Micah Hyde could miss time with groin injury The Buffalo Bills lost safety Micah Hyde early in their 22-0 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. While addressing the media on Monday Youth Tre'Davious White Jersey , head coach Sean McDermott listed Hyde as “week to week” with a groin injury.“If Rafael [Bush] has to play, which he did in the ballgame yesterday, I think he’ll do a good job,” said coordinator Leslie Frazier. “He’s worked extremely hard in practice. He’s been preparing for this situation. And then you have Siran [Neal], as well, who would come in and get an opportunity to play. We have a couple options. We’ll see how things go this week Youth Star Lotulelei Jersey , and who knows? Maybe Micah will make it back. Who knows?”With Frazier not closing the door completely, we’ll keep an eye on it moving forward.Elsewhere in the secondary, Phillip Gaines was a full participant on Friday but his dislocated elbow kept him out of the lineup on Sunday. Running back LeSean McCoy entered the game with sore ribs, but came out of the game fine said coach McDermott. Ditto for receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who took a shot to the head in the second half. Marcus Murphy, who also had rib problems Youth Jordan Poyer Jersey , should be good to go moving forward at running back. The Buffalo Bills (2-7) are in a free-fall, losers of four straight after being outscored by 90 points—the second-worst four-game stretch in franchise history. The New York Jets (3-6) will be without the services of rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, who will be sidelined for the Week 10 match-up because of a foot sprain. What a juicy match-up this will be when these AFC East foes square off at 1 p.m. Eastern Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Only fans living in the Buffalo and New York City primary and secondary television markets will get to watch the game as CBS’ 1 p.m. Eastern telecast. The No. 5 broadcasting team of Andrew Catalon (play-by-play) and former Bills wide receiver James Lofton (analyst) will handle the Bills/Jets clash. The areas that can see the game are highlighted in green (map courtesy of 506sports):The National CBS audience is split between watching the New England Patriots traveling to play the Tennessee Titans (in red), and the Arizona Cardinals traveling to face the Kansas City Chiefs (blue/purple). In the other 1 p.m. CBS game, the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to face the Indianapolis Colts (yellow). This is the 116th meeting all-time between these teams. Buffalo leads the all-time series 61-54 Buffalo Bills Hats , including a 21-12 trouncing on opening day of the 2017 season when the Bills racked up 408 total yards of offense and 23 first downs to give Sean McDermott a win in his Buffalo debut. In the second game of 2017 between these rivals, the Jets ran all over the Bills en route to a 34-21 victory on Thursday Night Football. The Jets raced out to a 34-7 lead behind more than 200 rushing yards and a defense that registered seven sacks. Bills fans can only hope Sunday’s first of two clashes with the Jets in 2018 ends better than that prime-time game.

Winning any of the AP’s individual NFL awards http://www.losangelesramsteamonline.com/brandin-cooks-jersey , from MVP to top rookie, means plenty to players.Being nominated for, no less winning, the Walter Payton Man of the Year award means more.Don’t minimize how proud a guy is when he’s voted one of the prestigious individual awards. It’s a portion of his resume that jumps off the page the way Saquon Barkley hurdles over potential tacklers. But being selected for the Payton award, renamed in 1999 for the great Chicago Bears running back and humanitarian, involves so much more than football achievements.“It is probably one of my greatest accomplishments,” says 2013 winner Charles Tillman, who played 12 seasons at cornerback for the Bears and his final year with the Panthers. “It really shows the true character of a person.“When fans see us, they just assume a lot of times we are just athletes. They don’t know what these men do on their days off during the season, in the community. A lot of players really put their community service in every week of the year. They get their charity work done and their volunteer work.“The Walter Payton Award is about excellence off the field. I am proud to be associated with that award.”Who wouldn’t be? In a time when many NFL players have been criticized or even condemned for their protests of social and racial injustice during the national anthem, many — if not most of them — also have been doing good deeds in their communities. They don’t do it for recognition or applause. As Tillman notes, they do it because they can “shed light on a bigger thing. It’s not just football. It’s about being a good person, serving other people and loving other people.”Unlike in the past Authentic Robert Woods Jersey , when three finalists were selected before a recipient was chosen, one player from every NFL team is a finalist. All will be recognized and participate in NFL functions during Super Bowl week. The Man of the Year will be revealed at NFL Honors, when The Associated Press’ individual NFL awards are announced Feb. 2 in Atlanta.Five current players have won the award: Drew Brees, Thomas Davis, Larry Fitzgerald, Eli Manning and J.J. Watt, and they wear a Man of the Year patch on their jerseys. All 2018 finalists will wear a Man of the Year helmet decal beginning this week through the end of the season.“It’s a tremendous honor,” Jets offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum says. This week, Beachum surprised Ca’moore Jones, an eighth-grade student at Orange Preparatory Academy in New Jersey, with two Super Bowl tickets. Moore was nominated by his teacher, Glenn Gamble, for his performance and growth with the Character Playbook course that is embraced by the NFL.“Just the name Walter Payton Robert Woods Jersey Elite , he’s the gold standard,” Beachum said. “What he did off the field and on the field, his excellence is bar none, top in history. So to be mentioned in the same name and the same breath as him, it’s truly humbling.”Humbling is an appropriate word because the award finalists often feel that sensation during their community work.“I’ve been blessed to play in this league for 13 years and to be a part of some really good seasons,” says Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, who is heavily involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. “But making a difference in someone’s life will go beyond football any day of the week. It’s not just about the game, it’s about the opportunity to bring people together. When I look back and think about my NFL career, the time spent out in the community giving back to people in need will always be the most touching to me.”Adds Colts DE Jabaal Sheard: “With our jobs as NFL players comes a huge platform to brighten and improve the lives of others, and that’s what I strive to do every day.”Tillman knows firsthand how kind and giving people can be. His own family was helped in 2008 when his infant daughter Tiana needed a heart transplant. Magali Garcia, the mother of 9-week-old Armando, who died in a Minnesota hospital, offered her son’s heart. To Tillman http://www.losangelesramsteamonline.com/robert-woods-jersey , Magali Garcia is a hero, not him. She is what the Payton award is all about.“When my daughter needed a new heart, another person stepped up and decided to take a bad situation and turn it into a success story,” Tillman says. “She not only blessed my family but other families with her choice.“For all we do in our foundation, it is a great blessing for what this woman did for her son. Magali, she is the one who actually is blessing those people, blesses them every day, and doesn’t even know it. She served my family and a lot of families and she made an amazing choice. A tough decision. I think about her son a lot and I truly am sorry. She is a part of my family, and for us to have this story that has bonded us, and this connection, and to turn that negative into something positive by blessing other people … I get great satisfaction in that.”So when the NFL Honors program is televised the night before the Super Bowl, pay special attention to the names below. Maybe stand up and give them an ovation for the truly special things they do:Arizona Cardinals: Antoine BetheaAtlanta Falcons: Grady JarrettBaltimore Ravens: Brandon CarrBuffalo Bills: Lorenzo AlexanderCarolina Panthers: Julius PeppersChicago Bears: Trey BurtonCincinnati Bengals: Carlos DunlapCleveland Browns: Christian KirkseyDallas Cowboys: Dak PrescottDenver Broncos: Von MillerDetroit Lions: Matthew StaffordGreen Bay Packers: Kenny ClarkHouston Texans: Whitney MercilusIndianapolis Colts: Jabaal SheardJacksonville Jaguars: Blake BortlesKansas City Chiefs: Dustin ColquittLos Angeles Chargers: Corey LiugetLos Angeles Rams: Andrew WhitworthMiami Dolphins: Kenny StillsMinnesota Vikings: Kyle RudolphNew England Patriots: Devin McCourtyNew Orleans Saints: Mark IngramNew York Giants: Michael ThomasNew York Jets: Kelvin BeachumOakland Raiders: Marshawn LynchPhiladelphia Eagles: Chris LongPittsburgh Steelers: Cameron HeywardSan Francisco 49ers: Robbie GouldSeattle Seahawks: K.J. WrightTampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoyTennessee Titans: Jurrell CaseyWashington Redskins: Vernon Davis The Rams are a step closer to clinching a first-round bye. They improved to 12-3 on the season with a comfortable 31-9 victory over the Cardinals in Arizona on Sunday afternoon. With the Bears beating the 49ers, they’ll need a win or a Bears loss to seal one of the top two seeds. Their bid for the top seed in the conference will remain alive as well if the Saints lose to the Steelers. It’s nothing new to see the Rams handle an opponent with ease this season http://www.ramsfootballauthentics.com/cooper-kupp-jersey-authentic , but the big offensive name on Sunday was a new one. Running back C.J. Anderson signed with the Rams this week, got the start with Todd Gurley sidelined by a knee injury and went off for 167 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. The Rams also got rushing touchdowns from Robert Woods and Jared Goff on their way to 269 rushing yards. Goff also threw a touchdown and avoided the interceptions that have plagued him since the team’s bye week.On defense, the big star was a more familiar part of the operation. Defensive tackle Aaron Donald had three sacks, which gives him 19.5 on the season. That’s a Rams record for a single season, a single-season record for defensive tackles and it leaves him three sacks away from Michael Strahan’s record for all players in a season. With the bye still up in the air, it seems unlikely that the Rams will be resting players next Sunday. If Donald is on the field against the 49ers, his final push for that record should be a big Week 17 storyline. The biggest storyline for the Cardinals is likely to be the one regarding head coach Steve Wilks’ future. There have been indications that he could be done after his first season on the job, although wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald offered supportive words about Wilks this week. The veteran did his part on the field as well by throwing a touchdown and catching six passes for 53 yards. Fitzgerald said this week that he has “no clue” if this will be his final year and the home crowd showed him a lot of love during the losing effort.

The Saints already have home field advantage in the NFC playoffs Color Rush Benjamin Watson Jersey , and they’re playing like they’re just trying to get to the bye week. The Panthers, of course, are pummeling the Saints, up 20-0 late in the second quarter.Quarterback Kyle Allen http://www.authenticsneworleanssaints.com/cheap-alex-okafor-jersey , their third in as many weeks, just threw a touchdown to tight end Ian Thomas. Allen has also run for a touchdown, and so has Cameron Artis-Payne.If you think those sound like names you hear in a fourth preseason game, you’re right Youth Ryan Ramczyk Jersey , as neither team appears terribly interested at the moment. The Panthers have already pulled running back Christian McCaffrey and linebacker Luke Kuechly (and center Ryan Kalil, defensive end Julius Peppers, and linebacker Thomas Davis can’t be far behind). They’re trying (I guess) to snap a seven-game losing streak, and so far it seems to be working. It’s a pretty common occurrence for fans and analysts to make bold predictions about a game or season. If the prediction doesn’t come true Youth Marcus Williams Jersey , then that’s OK - you said it was bold! If it DOES come true, though... now you look like a genius! So in that spirit, some of the Canal Street Chronicles writers were asked to share with me a bold prediction or two for the Week 8 of the regular season for the New Orleans Saints: a Sunday Night Football match up of the Saints traveling to Minnesota for the third time in two season. This is their chance to look brilliant! Here are a few of the bold predictions provided by some of the contributors at Canal Street Chronicles:Photo by Adam Bettcher/Getty ImagesGround Game Strong - The Saints rush for 150 yards as a team. Packers-Titans Fantasy Reaction: Adams & MVS trend up Green Bay Packers T-Shirt , Montgomery trends down The Green Bay Packers got their first taste of preseason action Thursday against the Tennessee Titans and while Aaron Rodgers, Jimmy Graham and Randall Cobb sat out, there was still plenty of fantasy implications to look at. With a mixed bag of starters and reserves, the preseason games can be a critical time for a player’s stock to rise or fall. Also, with only one cut down from a 90 to a 53-man roster, every play counts.Keep in mind that after one preseason game, someone’s stock rising doesn’t mean you should add them to your big board and vice versa.Stock UpDavante Adams, WRDavante Adams is going to be a WR1 you definitely want this year. He has the most chemistry with Aaron Rodgers of any pass catchers on the roster and on Thursday night, he proved the NFL isn’t ready for how good he’s going to be. He only played during the first quarter, but the deep ball he reeled in along the left sideline over Malcolm Butler looked purely effortless, from the route through the catch. His current average draft position puts him as the sixth WR to be taken in fantasy, leaving Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones and Michael Thomas ahead of him. I’m not sure I like Jones and Thomas ahead of him. Time will tell.Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WRMVS finished with five catches, 101 yards, and a TD which is an exciting stat line Green Bay Packers Hats , even in a preseason game. He looked like he was going to leave scorch marks on the grass. The Packers drafted him as an option to help stretch the field and he was also returning kicks to the tune of 20 yards a pop. He looked controlled while hauling in a 51-yard bomb and didn’t over run the ball which was nice to see. Not long after that, Valdes-Scantling caught a 15-yard touchdown while the defenders arm was still tangled up between his own. It’s tough not to overreact, but this good be a great stepping stone for MVS to build on. Jamaal Williams, RBAaron Jones is out for the first two games of the regular season with a suspension, so that left Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery in the race to earn the starting spot for Week 1. During this preseason game against Tennessee, it looked fairly evident that Williams was going to be the guy. He outpaced Montgomery in touches and remained a factor in the passing game, scoring on a nifty eight-yard TD reception. Running largely behind a backup offensive line, Williams had a tough time finding big holes to run through. Hopefully this improves.Stock DownTy Montgomery, RBThis goes without saying since I have Williams’ stock up, but I’m going to say it anyway. Montgomery didn’t get a whole lot of rushing opportunities and had zero catches on two targets. I thought he might see more time as a pass-catching option — considering he used to be a wide out — but the Packers were more preoccupied with their young receivers getting targets. Montgomery outpaced Williams in snap count 29 to 13, but his highlight of the night was in pass protection and really sticking a blitzing linebacker.J’Mon Moore, WRMoore was the first receiver taken by the Packers in the 2018 draft, but he didn’t stand out in this game. He was targeted seven times, but only brought in three of those targets for 27 yards. There were a few times in which Moore was in a good position to make a play on the ball, but just wasn’t able to get it done. It’s only one preseason game and it very well could’ve been jitters. We’ll keep an eye on him. DeAngelo Yancey, WRYancey is in his second year and spent last season on the practice squad. He’s someone who needs to have a big offseason and produce in both preseason games and during practice. This game wasn’t a big showcase for him (two catches on five targets for 10 yards), so if you’re big on Yancey, you need to hope that he continues to make strides in practice.Football Outsiders sees reasons for optimism with Packers guard Justin McCray The Green Bay Packers underwent an offseason of change not seen since 2006. The front office got an overhaul Green Bay Packers Hoodie , as Ted Thompson handed over the reins to Brian Gutekunst and several longtime scouts departed. The coaching staff also looks very different after Mike McCarthy made changes at the offensive and defensive coordinator positions. There are also several spots in the starting lineup that will change from 2017, with some replacements coming internally and others resulting from new player acquisitions. Today, we will look at one of the former situations at the right guard position. Football Outsiders is known for their excellent work in football analytics, including the advent of the DVOA and DYAR stats (among many others). Once again, the analysts at FO have graciously agreed to hold a Q&A with us at Acme Packing Company, as Scott Kacsmar takes on our questions about the Packers.Stay tuned for the Q&A series running all week and check out Football Outsiders' website and store, where you can find their 2018 Almanac.APC: Justin McCray appears to have the inside track to start at right guard this season. How did he perform at guard last season, and what do you believe to be reasonable expectations for him in 2018?It's encouraging to think that McCray can be significantly improved with a full offseason of focus at a single position. Last year he was probably overvalued by the casual fan simply because he was able to perform adequately as an emergency replacement (few if any saw him even making it through final cuts). However, his level of play was little more than replacement-level overall.Still, McCray might well end up a plus run blocker, and if he can at least be adequate in helping to keep Rodgers upright, that is probably enough. Furthermore, Bryan Bulaga's early return from ACL surgery puts McCray squarely between a pair of veteran players who are among the best pass blockers at their positions (center Corey Linsley being on his other side). All told, don't expect McCray to contend for an All-Pro honor, but there is reason to hope that he will be solid enough to justify the Packers' decision to allow Evans to fade away towards retirement I stead of bringing him back for another run._Stay tuned for part two of our Q&A on Tuesday._
Topic: Poll: Which quarterback should start for the Buffalo Bills
Posted: Friday, January 11, 2019 7:37:49 PM
It’s time for the Buffalo Bills to decide on their starting quarterback. With three preseason games in the books http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-corey-bojorquez-jersey , including their “dress rehearsal”, we’ve seen what we need to see. Sean McDermott should call the competition and get the team thinking about facing the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener. So who should play under center in that one? Here are the options, their pros and cons.Josh AllenPreseason stats: 24/44 (54.5%), 210 yards (4.8 YPA), 2 TD, 0 INT, 7 sacksThe rookie’s dramatic rise has been the story of Buffalo’s preseason, but Allen fell back to earth on Sunday when the Bengals handed him a reality check. The argument for Allen can be summed up as: he’s clearly the most talented quarterback on the roster, and before long he’ll earn the starting job. Why not now?For two games, Allen played well within and without the structure of the play http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jason-croom-jersey , and he can make magic that the other passers couldn’t dream of. But his slow processor stood out behind Buffalo’s offensive line and against the talented Bengals defense.Nathan PetermanPreseason stats: 33/41 (80.4%), 431 yards (10.5 YPA), 3 TD, 1 INT, 2 sacksFrom a statistical standpoint, Peterman runs away with the trophy. In three games, Peterman’s put up a statline that even beats Jeff Tuel’s infamous rookie preseason. While the other quarterbacks have struggled behind Buffalo’s offensive line, Peterman’s quick trigger and ability to roll out of the pocket have kept the offense moving every time he entered the game. Now in his second year, Peterman looks like he put his rookie year demons behind him, and he’s playing with confidence under center. The downside with starting Peterman is that he doesn’t have enough arm strength to run the full menu of plays Buffalo would like to use. He missed a couple pick-sixes by the skin of his teeth this preseason http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-zay-jones-jersey , and he needs to put his whole body into throws to put any mustard on the football.AJ McCarronPreseason stats: 10/16 (62.5%), 128 yards (8.0 YPA), 0 TD, 0 INT, 2 sacksIf the plan was to start the most experienced quarterback while holding down the fort for Josh Allen’s development, then McCarron should be the starter. With four accrued seasons and four full games played in 2015, McCarron knows what the NFL requires.Where the situation is hazy is what we’ve seen recently. McCarron had a strong first game with the second string, but played four straight three-and-outs with the starters against the Cleveland Browns, and missed Buffalo’s third preseason game with a shoulder injury. He’ll probably be healthy enough to play in the concluding game, but will he be able to wrest the spot from either Peterman or Allen at this point? Maybe not http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jordan-mills-jersey , unless this was the plan all along. So, who do you think should start when the Bills face the Ravens in week one of the season? Vote in our poll below, and share your thoughts in the comments! The Buffalo Bills’ offense isn’t just the worst in the NFL. It’s among the worst in NFL history, and so impossibly bad that no matter which of their three quarterbacks are playing, they have the league’s worst passing attack. There are 44 quarterbacks who have thrown at least 10 passes this season, and the Bills’ three quarterbacks rank 42nd, 43rd and 44th in passer rating. Here’s how the bottom of the passer rating chart looks:30.7 Nathan Peterman, Bills56.0 Derek Anderson, Bills61.8 Josh Allen, Bills62.5 Sam Bradford http://www.billscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-micah-hyde-jersey , Cardinals64.5 Tyrod Taylor, BrownsSo the Bottom 3 are Bills, with Sam Bradford (who’s now on waivers) and Tyrod Taylor (previously with the Bills) rounding out the Bottom 5.Peterman is undeniably the worst of the three, and he only started Sunday’s loss to the Bears because Anderson and Allen are both hurt. Bills fans can take a little solace in the fact that Allen, their first-round draft pick and (they hope) future franchise quarterback, has the best stats of the three. Maybe some day Allen will get the Bills’ offense turned around. But that day looks a long, long way off.
